2010 ROLLERSKI RACE SEASON OPENING!!!

Hillingdon Rollerski Day: Sun 28 Mar

The summer rollerski season begins soon! To mark this and the start of British Summer Time, we're running a day of rollerski activities at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit, Minet Country Park, West London.

We'll be giving a free racing rollerski masterclass and offering the chance to try out new rollerskis. The day is aimed at all (roller)skiers keen to keep up skills and improve performance through the summer. We also hope to get some new recruits for rollerski racing. This day will involve -

  • Free rollerski racing masterclass, from our excellent club instructors;
  • Free trials of the new generation of super-smooth SRB classic and skating rollerskis, and racing rollerskis;
  • Several fun races - aimed at novice and club racers;
  • Concept 2 SkiErg competition;
  • A chance to get some miles of rollerskiing in, on the smooth and traffic free Hillingdon circuit.

We reckon this will be a good chance to get together the skiers we've helped to prepare for winter holidays and races in a more sociable setting - and to encourage you to keep rollerskiing through the Spring and Summer months!

The introduction to racing will be especially beneficial for anyone keen to ski better and faster next season, or just feel fitter. There is a great series of rollerski races across London and the UK, which are well attended by recreational and racing skiers.

Security - please note, there have been thefts from cars at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit. Please park in the Goals Car Park where there is a security guard (rather than on the entry road) and do not leave valuables visible in your car - it is your risk, but we also don't want to encourage it.

Prizes - Gold medals will be given for each event and in the following categories, with silver and bronze given for each event in which there are more than 4 and 6 racers respectively -

Men, Women, Junior Men, Junior Women, Veteran Men (50+), Veteran Women (50+), Novice Men and Novice Women. Novice racers are those who have started to roller-ski within the past 6 months. Overall prizes for men and women.

In addition, there will be a club competition in the 10km aimed at non-elite racers, for anyone racing on Marwe 610 skis. These can be hired from us if you would like - book your pair by e-mailing flic@rollerski.co.uk
