Profile: Alison

Name: Ali Russell

Qualifications: Rollerski instructor (Snowsport England), personal trainer (CYQ level 2) and Nordic Walking instructor (Nordic Walking UK)

Experience: Canadian born, Ali started cross-country skiing about the age of five.  By the time she was a teenager, she was junior number two in Canada and represented  her country in North America and the Nordics.   In 2002 she finished 25th in the woman’s category in the Marcialonga World Ski Loppet. 

In 2015, she competed in the GB Cross Country Ski Championships in Ruhpolding, Germany and in the women’s 10km classic event she placed 6th in a field of 39 (1st in the over 30 category).  Most recently she completed the 48 km Transju’ world ski marathon in Les Rousses, France placing 18th in a field of 150 women.

In 2014, Ali returned to rollerskiing and joined the Hyde Park club.  She is now a certified rollerski instructor and qualified to compete in the British Cross Country Ski Championships in Ruhpolding in 2015..

Ambitions: Her ambition is to introduce as many people as possible to the joys of rollerskiing and nordic sports and to help perfect their technique as well as boost the confidence and ability of those already involved in nordic sports..

Availability: Alison lives in Westminster, and is currently available for private lessons in Hyde Park, Battersea Park and Bishops Park, Fulham.
