Spring 2011 - rollerski collection

This Spring we introduce some new rollerskis from Marwe, Powerslide and Czech manufacturer Jesenik to our selection.

Marwe has re-introduced its 700C classic rollerski and has a new 800C combi rollerski (left) on sale now. Both these skis have a CAP design to make them more ski-like, and for 2011 they also have a stronger ski construction, making them better for heavier skiers.

Last year the 700C Classic rollerski came top in a test by German website xc-ski.de

Jesenik rollerskis are produced by a small engineering firm in the Czech Republic. We tested them exhaustively in Richmond Park last year, and found them to be very strong and hard wearing. The Czechs have a great reputation both for engineering and for cross-country skiing and have always managed to achieve a lot with very little. This comes through with the Jesenik rollerskis

Skating, classic and combi skis are available. Skis including bindings start at a very competitive £178, with packages including boots and poles from £270.

Powerslide has long been a producer of inline skates (rollerblades). Being a German company, it finds itself not only at the heart of the most biathlon obsessed country in the world, but also compelled to innovate. A couple of years ago it produced a hybrid roller blading / roller ski device, but has now moved on to produce proper roller skis, suitable for cross-country skiers. The X-Trail and X-Plorer offer extremely good off-road capability - the X-Trail is a more stable model, better suited for beginners, while the X-Plorer has a little more flex, making it ideal for more experienced skiers. Both use high grade aircraft aluminium. These rollerskis are produced in Taiwan - home of many of the best mountain bike manufacturers - and are of excellent quality. There is a new page for multi-terrain rollerskis here.

All these skis are on sale now in our online shop, available either as packages or on their own, with or without bindings fitted.
